U.S. post office closing schedule for 2009. Most U.S. post office counters should be closed, and no regular mail delivery made on these dates.

NOTE: Although they strive for uniformity in their operating schedule, severe weather, fires and other unforeseen circumstances can sometimes cause the temporary closure of post offices, or alter lobby hours beyond the scope of the above U.S. Postal Service holidays. Some U.S. post offices will shorten their retail lobby hours and close at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Regular mail delivery is unaffected by this change and should be made as usual on December 24 and 31.

 

In most locations, when an additional surcharge is paid, Express Mail deliveries can be made even on Sundays and the official U.S.P.S. holidays listed above.
